President/General Counsel - Charles Gilham
Charles
Gilham was named Vice President and General Counsel for Mercy Health Plans in
December 2005. Charles also serves
as Corporate Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer for MHP.
Charles had previously held the position as Executive Director-Counsel
and Corporate Compliance Officer of MHP’s parent company, Sisters of Mercy
Health System, since April 1998.
Before joining the Sisters of
Mercy, Charles was Associate General Counsel for the Catholic Health Association
in St. Louis from 1995 to 1998. Prior
to that, he was Associate General Counsel with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of
Missouri in St. Louis from 1989 to 1995, and Compliance Attorney for General
American Life Insurance Company in St. Louis from 1988 to 1989.
Charles
received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri – St. Louis in
1982 and has earned both a J.D. in 1988 and an LL.M. in Health Law in 1995 from
St. Louis University. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and participates in the
Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the American Health Lawyers
Association.
