Seasonal influenza and influenza A (H1N1) vaccine coverage

This year the flu season is predicted to widely impact the United States. Businesses and individuals alike will experience the effects of the various flu strains this year.

As your health plan, we want to help make it as easy as possible for you to stay healthy throughout this flu season. That is why we:

• Cover the seasonal flu vaccines for our members when recommended by their physicians; and
• Offer an online resource tool at mercyhealthplans.com. Click on the “Flu Info” button to get the latest details for prevention, symptoms and regional locations for Mercy Health Plans’ (MHP) participating flu vaccine clinics.

To assist you, here are some coverage guidelines for the various vaccines available to our members:

Seasonal flu vaccine coverage:

• MHP covers injectable flu vaccine at participating providers for members of all ages when immunization is recommended by their physicians.
• MHP covers live flu vaccines, such as FluMist, for healthy, non-pregnant members aged 2 to 49 years at participating providers when immunization is recommended by their physicians.
• MHP members may pay for seasonal flu vaccination at non-participating providers and submit this form for reimbursement up to $25.

Influenza A (H1N1) flu vaccine:

• MHP covers the cost for the administration of the H1N1 flu vaccine for members at participating providers when immunization is recommended by their physicians.
• MHP members may pay for the administration of the H1N1 flu vaccination at non-participating providers and submit this form for reimbursement up to $20.
