Effective December 1, 2006,
prior consultations (CPT codes for mandatory consultation
) are required with RadConsult© (toll-free at 1-866-589-3875) for:
- All PET scans
- Non-emergency, outpatient diagnostic procedures of the head, brain, neck,
spine, and knee.
Exceptions by ordering
physician’s specialty have been eliminated. All physician specialties are
required to obtain prior consultation for the selected tests.
To minimize time spent, please have the
patient's chart available when calling. This process is not intended to
obstruct or delay patient care and as always, MHP continues to recognize that
the responsible physician's judgment remains paramount.
The following imaging services still require prior authorization. To submit a request, please contact the Plan’s
Prior Authorization Department at (314) 214-8282 or 1-800-647-2240.
